Outline and Purpose of the Course This course describes optical fiber communication. Optical networks that use optical communication system are explained. After the course explains optical characteristics and optical transmission, it explains signal propagation in optical fibers, optical signal sources, optical amplifiers, optical elements, and optical modulation and demodulation, considering the differences from conventional electronic communications. Then, the course explains optical networks that adopts optical consummation systems.
Course Goals This course aims to help students to acquire the features of optical communications in comparison with those of electrical communications.
