Outline and Purpose of the Course This lecture provides the following subjects: thermal radiation, steady and unsteady heat conduction, laminar and turbulent convective heat transfer, phase change phenomena (boiling and condensation). The main goals are to understand the basic theory of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer and their allocation through the understandings of the mechanisms of heat transfer; especially thermal hydraulics in a nuclear reactor as a typical energy conversion system will be discussed including a safety engineering point of view.
