Outline and Purpose of the Course The purpose of this training is to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out basic experiments in biochemistry and genomic drug-discovery science, and to understand the basic concepts of pharmaceutical science in the life sciences.
Course Goals Learn biochemical experimental methods of working with enzymes
Learn experimental methods of basic molecular genetics and biochemistry and understand recombinant DNA technologies
Learn applied experimental methods of biochemistry involving cell-cell competition and communication
Learn applied experimental methods of biochemistry using animal tissues and cells
Learn applied experimental methods of biochemistry using cultured cells
Learn experimental methods of genome analysis

Biochemical experiments on proteins (enzymes)
(1) Substrate specificity of enzymatic reactions
(2) pH dependence of enzymatic reactions
(3) Kinetics and inhibition mechanisms of enzymatic reactions

○ Biochemistry training II (Cell Fate Dynamics and Therapeutics/Institute for Frontier Life and Medical Sciences)
Performing experiments to understand molecular genetics and biochemistry using genes for fluorescent proteins
(1) Transforming Escherichia coli with a foreign DNA
(2) Analyzing recombinant DNAs and proteins

Evaluation Methods and Policy Attitude score and report score are evaluated using the following ratios;
Biochemistry training I, Genomic drug-discovery science training: attitude score 40%, report score 60%
Biochemistry training II, III, IV, V: attitude score 50%, report score 50%
