天然物薬学I(天然物化学)【H30以降入学者用】

Numbering Code U-PHA00 2C006 LJ86 Year/Term 2022 ・ First semester
Number of Credits 2 Course Type Lecture
Target Year 2nd & 3rd year students Target Student
Language Japanese Day/Period Wed.1
Instructor name HATTORI AKIRA (Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences Associate Professor)
Outline and Purpose of the Course Students will learn about the structure and chemical properties of organic compounds that exist in living organisms, and acquire a basic understanding of organic chemical reactions that occur in living organisms. In addition, they will understand the chemical structure and action mechanism of natural organic compounds produced by microorganisms and used as pharmaceuticals.
Course Goals Explain in vivo reactions, based on the chemical structure and chemical properties of biomolecules.
Classify antibiotics, based on their chemical structure, and explain their mechanism of action.
Be able to chemically explain the mechanism of acquiring resistance to antibacterial drugs and the mechanisms behind the development of side effects.
Schedule and Contents (1) Chemical structure of monosaccharides and polysaccharides [McMary, Chapter 21]
(2) Chemical structure and properties of amino acids [McMary, Chapter 19]
(3) Chemical bonds and interactions that define the structure of proteins [McMary, Chapter 19]
(4) Chemical structure and properties of nucleic acids [McMary, Chapter 24]
(5) Chemical structure of coenzymes and chemical reactions of metabolism
(6) Enzyme-catalyzed reactions
(7) Chemical structure of lipids that make up biological membranes [McMary, Chapter 23]
(8) Introduction to microbial chemistry
(9) Antibiotics targeting cell-wall synthesis (I)
(10) Antibiotics targeting cell-wall synthesis (II)
(11) Antibiotics targeting cell membranes
(12) Antibiotics targeting protein synthesis
(13) Antibiotics targeting nucleic-acid synthesis
(14) Mechanism of acquiring resistance to antibiotics
(15) Antibiotic pharmacokinetics, side effects, drug-drug interactions
Evaluation Methods and Policy Regular exams: 100%

If it is necessary to conduct a regular test online, normal points (including note points) and report points may be included as evaluation factors.
Specific example: School year 2020
Regular (online) exam 40%; note points 30%; reports 30%
Course Requirements None
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) The section on biomolecules is covered in multiple lectures. For this reason, students are expected to review all of the materials in order to understand it and how it relates to various topics.
To understand the mechanism of antibiotic action, students are expected to review the basic chemical structure and how they act on their target.
