Outline and Purpose of the Course Videogames are deeply embedded in the culture industry, the military industrial complex, algorithmic control and platform capitalism. In this lecture, we will draw on theoretical work done in cirtical game studies in order to consider contemporary game culture.
Course Goals Participants understand the relevance of critical perspectives on digital games, are able to apply such perspectives to the analysis of games and digital media, and are equipped with a set of tools for thinking about the contemporary media environment.

Evaluation Methods and Policy The course will be evaluated based on active participation in the discussion (30%) and a report (70%), based on a six-point grade scale. The evaluation will be based on the course objectives.
