Outline and Purpose of the Course This course traces the history and development of regional geography and considers its contemporary meaning and problems. Regional geography have faced a criticism on its close connection with political power and military actions and its authors' positionality. Currently, while it is said that academic reasearch of regional geography has declined, it has still played an singnificant role on geography eduaction. Participants are expected to develop their own opinions on regional geography's potential and problems for understanding of regions and geography education based on the historical background and current situations of regional geography.

Evaluation Methods and Policy The final grade will be evaluated by quality of comment paper (week 2-14, each 5 points=45 points) and final report (55 points).

Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Participants need to submit a comment paper (the file should be word or PDF) by the next Sunday after each class. The method of submit will be shown at the first lecture.
