Outline and Purpose of the Course	A summary of viewpoints and methodologies in geography, touching upon examples of specific research and the background of its academic history. Its purpose is to deepen basic understanding of geography, environmental and human relationships, and the basic concepts of nature, space, positioning, and space. This is an introductory course for those who wish to specialize in geography.
Course Goals	Develop the ability to understand and discuss how the basic themes of geography have been studied and formulated, while following the development of the subject's academic history.

Course Requirements	Students should have at least taken high school geography. During class, students may bring atlases that they used in high school (Teikoku Shoten, Ninomiya Shoten, etc.) (Those who don't have an atlas should purchase one.) Unless special permission has been given, the use of PCs, mobile devices and smart phones is prohibited during class (notes are to be handwritten). Students should also take Geography (Course II) which deals with human geography.
