| Outline and Purpose of the Course | The purpose of this seminar is to read classical research on doctrines in early Christianity, look at a comprehensive overview of the main doctrinal themes and characteristics of church fathers from extensive historical materials, and learn the historical developments revealed by dogma. In this seminar, we aim to improve reading comprehension of literature needed to study Christian thought through close reading of studies that furthered the development of patristics in modern Germany. | |||

In this year's first semester seminar, we will deal with Marcion Das Evangelium vom fremden Gott, one of the main writings by Harnack in his later years. | Evaluation Methods and Policy | Based on in-class performance. Attendees will be assigned regular translations and several presentations on individual text-based subjects, and graded on overall work. | |||
