Outline and Purpose of the Course Reading Hesiod's Theogony, Seminar participants will become familiar with Greek myths, epic metre and style. They will also provided with a framework for understanding and discussing interpretative problems.
Course Goals The seminar participants will :
1. be able to appreciate Greek epic texts
2. learn to translate Greek into Japanese
2. develop understandings of classical tradition and reception
Schedule and Contents 1. Introduction
2~14. Reading Hesiod's Theogony (continuing from the first semester)
15. Review and feedback
Evaluation Methods and Policy Performance in class.
Course Requirements Greek grammar mastered.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Read diligently the notes of the textbook.
