Outline and Purpose of the Course In this lecture, we will discuss on Part B and C of the "Reason" chapter of Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit. In this part, Hegel presents his conception of modern society, especially how individuals contribute to the construction of a social community through their actions. It reveals his interesting view on theory of action.
Course Goals In this lecture students are supposed to learn:
1. Hegel's conception of the relationship between individuals and society in the modern western society.
2. Hegel's interpretations of some classical novels like Goethe's Faust and Schiller's The Robbers.
