| Outline and Purpose of the Course | This seminar aims to provide students with the proficiency of academic German, through the reading of Jan Assmann's "Das kulturelle Gedaechtnis: Schrift, Erinnerung und politische Identitaet in fruehen Hochkulturen (1992)". The concept of "das kulturelle Gedaechtnis" has been making a great impact on the historical studies. Taking part in this seminar, students will understand how this concept can be applied to the study of ancient worlds. | ||

- Acquiring the reading proficiency of academic German. - Understanding the importance of the concept of "das kulturelle Gedaechtnis" and the possibility of its application to the study of ancient worlds. |
