Outline and Purpose of the Course This course will explain everything in intermediate Korean grammar, from the use of declinable words to the rules of use for particles and connective endings. Each lesson will involve the following grammar points, as well as simple conversation. Grammar explanations will be provided in a lecture format, but conversation and reading comprehension will be practiced in pairs or in a presentation format. As appropriate, we will also deepen our understanding of South Korea and the Korean peninsula through cultural and historical topics.
Course Goals Learn intermediate Korean grammar and be able to directly apply that knowledge in conversation.
Schedule and Contents Week 1: Pronunciation and Important Points
Week 2: Phonetic Changes
Week 3: Important Points on Pronunciation
Weeks 4-5: Polite Language Endings (Declarative Sentences, Doubts)
Week 6: Respect
Week 7: Connective Endings
Weeks 8-9: Tenses (Past, Future)
Week 10: Attributive Forms
Week 11: Particle Forms and Rules of Use
Weeks 12-13: Irregularity Conjugations
Week 14: Numbers and Counters
Week 15: Final Exam
Evaluation Methods and Policy Presentations in class (20%), one quiz (20%) and a final exam (60%).
