Outline and Purpose of the Course	This course is for students who have already studied French for one year or more. It will provide them with the opportunity to systematize and reinforce their knowledge of French vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and culture, and allow them to work further on their command of written and spoken French. At the end of the year, students should be able to pass the intermediate French proficiency test designed by the French Ministry of Education (DELF A2 or B1), which adresses four language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The class will be conducted in French by a native speaker.
Course Goals	Upon the successful completion of this course, students will have learned the vocabulary, grammatical structures, and communicative norms to allow them to do the following in French: - converse with ease when dealing with routine tasks and social situations - read and interpret narratives, including more complex texts on topics of interest - present, orally and in writing, discourse on a variety of familiar topics -identify and discuss fundamental elements of French culture
Schedule and Contents	After an introductory lecture (week 1) presenting the goals and exercices of the course, we will practice various exercices (weeks 2-14), fitting the schemes of the Delf exam : oral and written comprehension, oral and written production. Total:14 classes and 1 feedback
Evaluation Methods and Policy	The students will be evaluated through continuous assessment : this includes 2 tests during the semester, oral and written class activities, but also participation (class attendance, classroom behavior, personal work). Details will be explained in class.
Course Requirements	All the students are welcome from the second academic year on, as soon as they have already studied French.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review)	Regular class attendance is essential. Short assignments will occasionally be given.
