テーマ：The Old Man and the Seaを読む 到達目標：The Old Man and the Seaは、いわずとしれたHemingwayの代表作である。読書感想文用の指定作品として挙げられることも多い本作に対する専門家の評価は、じつは結構複雑である。そこで、本授業では、前半を本作の読解に費やし、後半はだれもが傑作と認める彼の代表的短篇を5本ほど読む。果たしてThe Old Man and the Seaは名作なのか？Overratedなのか？本講座の終了時に、あらためて受講生のみなさんに考えてもらいたいと思う。 |

| Evaluation Methods and Policy | 毎回のコメントシートの記入（20％）・発表（40％：予定回数は2回）・期末レポート（40％）にて評価する。優れたコメントはPandAにアップロードする。発表時間は25分から30分ほどの長さとする（残り時間は参加者全員によるディスカッション）。期末レポートはThe Old Man and the Seaおよび授業で取り上げた短編の内の一つを選んで論じること。 | |||
