Outline and Purpose of the Course |
On Mencius' personal history, Takeuchi Yoshio and Qian Mu studied previously, but their studies have problems in chronology and historical philology, above all, they are seriously insufficient on understanding about actual condition of the history of pre-imperial China and editorial characteristics of the Mencius. From such a critical view, this lecture situates Mencius in the pre-imperial history as the formation process of the despotic China by overviewing historical process before the middle Warring States and analyzing the Mencius. |
