| Outline and Purpose of the Course | Many commentaries were written to the Mulamadhyamaka of Nagarjuna by various authors from different points of view. Accordingly, Madhyamaka had developed in many ways. The purpose of this seminar is to read some chapters from the Prasannapada by Candrakirti, extant also in Sanskrit, together with other related commentaries to the Mulamadhyamaka to better understand the thought of middle Madhyamaka in 6/7 century and its philosophical background. | |||

| Schedule and Contents |
Following the first semester, 14 classes will be spent closely reading the Prasannapada, while explaining related questions. If necessary, the author, his writings, and background will be introduced in the first class. The 15th class session will be spent on feedback. NOTE: Feedback method will be explained in class. |
