Outline and Purpose of the Course To ascertain the basic structure of Chinese studies by understanding the 4-part classification method.
Course Goals Cultivate a broader perspective than an academic framework based on Western modernity by understanding the features of Chinese character-based culture through the classification of books.
Schedule and Contents Explain classification methods and introduce various events related to ancient Chinese books based on the Kyoto University Institute of Research in the Humanities List of Ancient Chinese Book Classifications.
Content and order may change depending on the degree of progress.

3rd 経部・五経等（経注疏合刻類 ~ 春秋類）
4th 経部・四書等 (四書類 ~ 小学類）
5th 史部・概説
6th．史部・叙述形式 (正史類 ~ 載記類）
7th 史部・制度、伝記、地理（詔令奏議類～政書類）
8th 史部・資料、史論（書目類～史評類）
9th 子部・概説
10th 子部・思想、技術（儒家類～術数類）
11th 子部・趣味, 宗教 (芸術類 ~ 道家類）

15th Conclusion
Feedback method will be explained in class.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Mainly papers, as well as performance (participation in class, etc.).
Evaluation is based 60% on papers and 40% on performance.
High grades will be given for clear signs of seriously undertaking writing of papers, such as referring to original text.
