Outline and Purpose of the Course In this course, students will read research papers and deepen their understanding of various methods of literature review. They will also learn to research literature and write papers in preparation for the undergraduate thesis.
Course Goals * Understand the basic methods for preparing an undergraduate thesis on French Language and Literature
* Cultivate the basic skills necessary for literature research and theses writing
Schedule and Contents By reading excerpts from literary theories and critiques, students will improve their reading comprehension of abstract texts while at the same time deepening their understanding of various methods of literary criticism and learning methods of literature research.

Week 1: Explanation of the purpose of the course

Weeks 2-5: Methods of literature review and reading academic papers

Weeks 6-10: Oral presentations: Students will present what they plan for their undergraduate theses and discuss this with all faculty and students.

Weeks 11-15: Research tasks: Address the problems pointed out during the presentations, conduct further literature surveys, etc.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Evaluated by participation.
Course Requirements This course is for students planning on submitting their undergraduate thesis this year.
This is a mandatory course for fourth-year students majoring in French Language and Literature.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Instructions given in class.
