Outline and Purpose of the Course | This will be an opportunity for each student to devise how to title their thesis, how to gather materials and analyze them, and what kinds of conclusions to draw. Students will present their ideas, critique one another's work, and receive guidance from instructors. Fourth-year students planning to submit a graduation thesis must take this course, with their work presented in a midterm presentation. | |||
Course Goals | Learn methods for examining source materials for writing a graduation thesis, be able to reflect on and revise argumentation methods by giving oral presentations on the thesis outline in midterm presentations and by receiving advice from other students and the instructors. | |||
Schedule and Contents | In the first class, everyone will give a brief presentation on what kind of graduation thesis they plan to write. Then, the class will proceed with individual guidance. Before the start of the second semester, a few days will be allotted to conduct intensive midterm presentations. | |||
Evaluation Methods and Policy | Evaluation will be based on midterm presentations. | |||
Course Requirements | For students who expect to complete a bachelor's course in this academic year. | |||
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) | In the first class session, all students will present both their graduation thesis topic and its outline. Students should arrive well-prepared. Furthermore, by the midterm presentations, students are supposed to make every effort to examine and consider everything needed for their argumentation, prepare a draft and practice giving their presentation. This will enable them to give an easy-to-understand presentation in the limited time assigned to them. | |||
