Outline and Purpose of the Course A lot about the history of Japanese language has been revealed, but how is it possible? For example, why can we know how a language was pronounced, even though there were no tape recorders then?
In this course we learn about how it is possible: what can be a proof, what approaches are used, what resources are used, and so on.
Course Goals To get a basic knowledge and understanding about:
(1) how Japanese language has changed (or not changed),
(2) how these changes (unchanges) have been revealed.
