Outline and Purpose of the Course The course will help students develop presentation skills for academic and business settings. More specifically, students will learn how to make successful speeches that incorporate quality slides with the appropriate poise for both academic and business contexts. Furthermore, students will develop their English speaking speaking and reading skills as they research and prepare for their presentations.

Course Goals By the end of this course, students should be able to: (1) recognize the characteristics of successful presentations; (2) incorporate techniques learned in class into their own presentations; (3) create and deliver coherent presentations from the introduction to the conclusion; and (4) give presentations with greater fluency and confidence.

Weeks 12-14: Final individual presentations

Evaluation Methods and Policy The grading policy will be as follows:

Short presentations 30%
Active class participation 40%
Final presentation 30%

Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Students are expected to watch videos or read materials outside of class in order to prepare for class discussions. Students are also expected to prepare adequately for all presentations.
Textbooks Textbooks/References Materials will be provided by the instructor and distributed during class.
