Outline and Purpose of the Course ・このクラスは、初級を終えた学習者を対象に設計されている。
・このコースの目標は、中級Ⅰレベルの文法を理解し、話す・聞く・読む・書くの４技能を獲得することである。
・同じテキストを使用するが、前期と後期で異なる内容を扱う。

・This class is designed for students who have completed Elementary Japanese.
・The purpose of this course is to understand Intermediate I level Japanese grammar, and to develop fundamental skills in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Course Goals 本コースの到達目標は以下の通りである。
・語彙を増やし、中級Ⅰ後半の文型を習得する。
・大学生活に役立つ、このレベルの読む・書く・話す・聞く日本語ができる。

Course goals are as follows.
・Expand your vocabulary, and learn the latter half of Intermediate I level Japanese sentence patterns.
・To be able to use lower-intermediate level Japanese effectively for campus activities, in all four areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Schedule and Contents ・今学期は7課～12課を中心に扱う。
・各回、目標に沿って、各技能の練習を行う。

Evaluation Methods and Policy ・「出席と参加の状況」30％、「期末試験」70％で評価する。
・成績評価基準の更なる詳細については、授業中に指示する。

・The student’s final grade will be based on 1) in-class participation (30%), and 2) a final exam (70%).
・Details of the grading method and evaluation criteria will be provided in class.
Course Requirements （１）初回の授業からすべて参加すること。
（２）履修登録前に日本語・日本文化教育センターの日本語プレースメントテストを受けること。プレースメントテストの日時は、国際高等教育院日本語教育HPを参照すること。
(1) Be sure to attend all the classes from day one.
(2) Applicants need to take a placement test before completing class registration. Please check the website of the Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences (ILAS) for the test schedule.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) ・各課の語彙を予習してくること。
・また、初級までの学習事項で弱いところがあれば、自習等で補うこと。
・復習をすること。
Students must study the vocabulary for each lesson before coming to class.
Over the course of the semester, students who are found to have weaknesses in elementary level Japanese are to review the necessary points on their own.
Students must review.
