| Outline and Purpose of the Course |
本授業の目的は、学習・研究活動を行ううえで必要となる、会話能力の習得である。このために、次の練習を行う。1)自分の経歴や長所について、公式/非公式に話す。2）複数の情報源を確認し、意見をやり取りする。3)社会問題、研究上の課題についてグループで話し合う。 The purpose of this course is to develop conversation skills for study in Japan. We will learn 1) talk about the academic biography, work experience, and strength on formal/informal occasions, 2) check information sources and exchange opinions, 3) discuss social issues or academic topics in a group. |

| Course Goals |
本授業の到達目標は、以下の通りである。 ・CEFR B2.2-C1程度の日本語運用レベルに到達する。 ・ほとんど努力する必要がないくらい、らくらくと流暢に、自然に言いたいことを表現できる。幅の広い語彙が使いこなせ、間接的な表現を使って即座に対話の隙間を埋めることができる。見て分かるような表現探しや、回避の方略はほとんどない。 ・抽象的で複雑でよく知らない話題でも、グループ討議では第三者間の複雑な対話を容易に理解し、そこに加わることができる。 ・説得力をもって公式に主張を展開でき、質問やコメントに応じ、複雑な筋立ての対抗意見にも、流暢に自然に適切に応えることができる。 Course goals are as follows. ・To attain a level of proficiency equivalent to the CEFR B2.2 - C1 level. ・Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Has a good command of a broad lexical repertoire allowing gaps to be readily overcome with circumlocutions. There is little obvious searching for expressions or avoidance strategies. ・Can easily keep up with the debate, even on abstract, complex unfamiliar topics. ・Can argue a formal position convincingly, responding to questions and comments and answering complex lines of counter argument fluently, spontaneously and appropriately. |

| Evaluation Methods and Policy |
・「参加態度」30％、「口頭発表・課題」70％で評価する。「口頭発表・課題」の評価は、「パフォーマンス評価」として、3回（20％、20％、30％）に分けて実施する。 ・成績評価基準の更なる詳細については、授業中に指示する。 ・5回以上の欠席者は評価の対象としない。 ・The student's final grade will be based on 1) in-class participation/attitude (30%) and 2) oral presentations and assignments (70%). Performance assessment will be held three times (20%, 20%, 30%). ・Details of the grading method and evaluation criteria will be provided in class. ・Students who are absent from 5 or more class sessions will not be evaluated. |
