Outline and Purpose of the Course 読む・書く・聞く・話すの4技能についての総合的な日本語力の向上を目指す(前半)。

The purpose of this course is for students to develop their overall Japanese language skills, focusing on reading, writing, listening and conversation (first half).

Course Goals 1.論理的な文章の読解力を高める。
2.より正確で適確な語彙・文法・表現を身につける。
3. 1・2を受けて、論理的な文章が書ける表現力を養う。
4.目的のある会話から雑談までを聞きとる力を養う。
5. 4のような会話力を養う。

1. Acquire the ability to comprehend passages written in a logical style.
2. Acquire the ability to use more accurate and appropriate grammar and expressions.
3. Acquire the ability to write in a logical manner based on what was learned in 1. and 2. above.
4. Acquire the ability to understand a broad range of conversation from dialogues with a specific aim to small talk.
5. Acquire the speaking skills needed for a broad range of conversation as described in 4. above.
Schedule and Contents (1)読解(7回)
・論理的な文章を読んでグラフや表にする、など

(2)文章表現(7回)
・グラフや図表を説明する、対比する、人やものの動き・現象を説明する、など。

(3)文法・語彙・漢字など(毎回)
・宿題としてプリントを課し、次の回に答え合わせをする。

(4)聴解・会話(毎回)

(5)期末試験(1回)

(6)フィードバック(1回)

 なお、授業はフィードバックを含め全15回とし、ここに期末試験は含まれません。

(1) Reading comprehension (7 sessions)
・Read passages written in a logical style, and use them to make graphs/tables, etc.
(2) Writing (7 sessions)
・Explain and compare graphs, diagrams and tables; explain movement and phenomena related to people and things, etc.
(3) Grammar,Vocablary,Kanji etc. (every week)
・Homework will be assigned each time, and we will check our answers the following week.
(4) Listening/Conversation (every week)
(5) Final exam (once)
(6) Feedback session (once)

The classes are 15 times in total including feedback, and the terminal exam is not included in them.

*毎回、前回の内容からディクテーションをします。
*Every week, we will do dictation based on the contents of the previous week's class.
Evaluation Methods and Policy ・授業参加度 20% 提出物 20% 期末テスト 60%
In-class participation 20%; assignments 20%; final exam. 60%.
・4回以上の欠席は、単位を認めない。
Students who are absent four or more times will not receive credit.
Course Requirements ・履修登録前に、日本語・日本文化教育センターの日本語プレースメントテストを受けること。プレースメントテストの日時は、国際高等教育院日本語教育HPを参照すること。

・Applicants need to take a placement test before completing class registration. Please check the website of the Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences (ILAS) for the test schedule.
・ 前期・後期の連続履修が望ましい。
・Students enrolling in this class are encouraged to take the first and second semester classes consecutively.

 
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) ・毎回宿題として課す文法の練習プリントをやってくること。

・Come to class with your completed grammar exercises which are assigned as homework each week.
