Outline and Purpose of the Course This course provides comprehensive understanding on "Human Security" that emerged in the 1990s and has been developing since. Seven lecturers talk about human security from different viewpoint, Food and Water, Energy and Environment, Public Health, and Governance. The lectures will also mention about the Sustainable Development Goals, a Global Initiative, which are most relevant initiative setting targets by 2030.
Course Goals To be able to explain about the conception of "human security development" and specific issues related to human security.
Schedule and Contents Following lecture topics will be given. One topic use two to three class times and 14 class times in a total.
1.Human Security: an overview (Naito)
2.Climate, Water and Forest: Forest ecosystem services and climate security (Kitajima)
3.Food system: Production and food security (Shiraiwa)
4.Energy and Environment: Renewable energy and energy security (Oogaki, Ishihara)
5.Public health: Infectious disease, nutrition, health and food
security and safety (Yamazaki)
6.Governance: Corruption and political security (Thun)
7.Discussion and Feedback

The course will open on October 1(Sat), 3(Mon), and 11(Tue), the beginning of second semester. Beware of announcements through KULASIS and PandA or contact to coordinator staff shown below.
