| Outline and Purpose of the Course | このクラスでは、英国のタイムズ紙とガーディアン紙に掲載された質の高いエッセイを教材に、知的な内容の英文を正確にまた批判的に受容するための読解演習を行う。取り扱う記事は、「薬品の過剰摂取」や「異種間結婚」といった社会生活に関する問題、「高性能蓄電池」や「人工知能」など科学にまつわるもの、また「食品ロスへの企業努力」や「大手スーパーの粉飾決済」などビジネスに関する話題、そして「代替エネルギー」や「廃棄物処理」という環境問題に関するテーマなど、現代社会を反映する大変興味深いトピックなので、意欲的に授業に取り組んで欲しい。授業は、テキストの精読を中心に展開するが、適宜、英文記事の内容要約などの作業により、パラグラフ・リーディングを狙いとした速読演習を行う。なお学期中にボキャブラリー養成を主眼とした小テストを２回実施する。 | |||

5回以上欠席した場合は成績評価の対象としない。 期末に行う試験の成績60％、授業での訳読・レポート課題・小テストなど40％。 |
