| Outline and Purpose of the Course | 一般に、批評は作品の影に隠れた「脇役」にされやすいが、批評もまた独立したジャンルであり、いわば作品と両輪で文化を形成する。本演習では、主に20世紀以降の文学を対象とするDavid Lodge, The Modes of Modern Writing: Metaphor, Metonymy, and the Typology of Modern Literature(1977)を読み、文学研究・批評上の諸問題や、論じるための視角について考える。よりよい読者／論者／作者となるための鑑識眼を養う契機としたい。初めは教員による解説を中心に進め、慣れてきたら受講者による発表も取り入れる。毎回の予習は必須である。 | |||
