| Outline and Purpose of the Course | Damage from disasters is defined by two factors: scale of hazard and social vulnerability. Two strategies exist to reduce damage from disasters - namely, crisis management as a post-event countermeasure and risk management as a pre-event measure. This course introduces students to a system for effective emergency management, consisting of response, recovery, mitigation, and preparedness. | ||
