Outline and Purpose of the Course The course provides students with the numerical modeling of geomaterials to predict the mechanical behavior of geomaterials. The course will cover the governing equations for multiphase geomaterials based on the theory of porous media. The fundamental constitutive models of geomaterials including the elastic model, the elastoplastic models will also be presented. In addition, numerical methods including FEM and FDM will be explained with some applications, such as, consolidation, soil-structure interaction problems. Finally, students are required to do excises of numerical calculations.
