Outline and Purpose of the Course Main subjects of Applied Seismology are clarification of the mechanism of strong motion generation and prediction of strong motion for the future earthquakes. In those studies, skills of seismic wave analysis or modeling is necessary.
In this class, we learn some of the basic and prevailing theories and techniques used in seismic wave analysis or modeling, aiming to gain the ability to understand state-of-the-art studies and to solve own problems.
Course Goals To understand basics of seismic wave analysis and modeling, and to obtain basic skills of developing necessary techniques.
Schedule and Contents About two subjects among the following are picked in consideration of the members' interest and ability.

* Methods of source modeling
* Methods of seismic wave propagation modeling
* Methods of ground response modeling
Course Requirements None
