Outline and Purpose of the Course (Aim) This course aims to equip students with the basic experimental methods and approaches of biological chemistry for drug discovery science and also aims to teach them experiment planning and teaching skills.

(Summary) Students will design practical training and plan experiments in the course of Pharmaceutical Laboratory IV : Biochemistry and Microbiology for undergraduate students, prepare and conduct preliminary experiments prior to practical training, and guide undergraduate students during the experiments.
Course Goals To learn experimental methods and approaches in biological chemistry for drug discovery science, and develop experiment planning skills and teaching methods.
Schedule and Contents (1)-(2) Design and planning of practical training
・Designing practical training content in biological chemistry
・Planning experiments in biological chemistry
(3)-(6) Preparation and preliminary experiments
・Preparation of practical training content to explain to undergraduate students
・Preliminary experiments to assess the validity of experiment plans relating to biological chemistry
(7)-(14) Instruction in practical training
・Methods to search for literature
・Acquiring and editing sequence information from databases
・Collating nucleotide sequence and peptide sequence
・Sequence comparison in polymorphisms and mutations and its interpretation
(15) Presentations and discussion of practical training results
・ Presentations and discussion of practical training results
Evaluation Methods and Policy Students will be comprehensively evaluated based on practical training attendance, development and planning of practical training, preparation and preliminary experiments, and the quality and appropriateness of their instruction as a leader in practical training.

Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Students should prepare prior to the commencement of practical training to ensure that specialized training for pharmacy will be carried out appropriately.
