Outline and Purpose of the Course (Aim) Through experiments in biopharmaceutical chemistry and proteomics and drug discovery, this course aims to teach students building hypothesis and research plans, experimental techniques, data collection, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
(Summary) In this course, students will conduct research on the development of pharmacologically active molecules with protein engineering and synthetic chemistry, as well as the analysis of their mechanisms. The students will also conduct research on technology for drug target discovery using nano/micro science.
Course Goals ・To learn the experimental techniques needed to carry out research in biopharmaceutical chemistry and proteomics and drug discovery.
・To learn how to evaluate the results and build research plans, as well as data collection methods and problem-solving skills.
Schedule and Contents 1-15: The following experiments will be conducted:
・Research on the development of antibody drug candidates
・Research on the mechanisms of antibody drug candidates
・Research on protein design for alteration of its functions
・Research on bioconjugate chemistry of proteins with small and macromolecular compounds for development of novel functions
・Research on drug target discovery through proteomic analysis
・Research on proteomic analysis based on clinical data
・Research on the development of separation agents using nanomaterials
・Research on drug target discovery using microscience
Evaluation Methods and Policy Students will be comprehensively evaluated based on their approach and attitude to day-to-day research.
Course Requirements None
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Students should study the necessary literature prior to carrying out experiments and conduct experiments once they are clear on the procedure. Following the experiment, students should sort and analyze the results, then begin thinking about what will be needed for the next experiment.
