Outline and Purpose of the Course (Aim) Through presentations and related discussions, students will gain advanced knowledge and learn individual interpretation methods and logical thinking related to pharmaceutical research. The course also aims for students to develop the procedural skills in research that are required of pharmacists supporting advanced medical care, as well as problem-solving skills to handle various scientific issues.
(Summary) The course introduces pioneering findings in pharmaceutical research, which are used as a basis for discussion. Guidance on presentation and discussion methods will be circulated in advance via bulletin and will also be explained in the first seminar.
Course Goals ・To gain knowledge of the latest findings needed to conduct pharmaceutical research.
・To develop the presentation and communication skills needed to excel as a researcher.
Schedule and Contents Each of the following subjects is intended to account for 1-3 weeks of classes:
1. Outline of problem-solving skills in pharmaceutical research (Kaneko)
2. Research methods in medical chemistry (Takakura & Takahashi)
・Introduction and data analysis of research on medical chemistry
・Presentations of research on medical chemistry
・Discussions based on presentations of research on medical chemistry
・Commentary based on presentations of research on medical chemistry
3. Research methods in physical chemistry (Ono)
・Introduction and data analysis of research on physical chemistry
・Presentations of research on physical chemistry
・Discussions based on presentations of research on physical chemistry
・Commentary based on presentations of research on physical chemistry
4. Research methods in biological chemistry (Kaneko & Shirakawa)
・ Introduction and data analysis of research on biological chemistry
・Presentations of research on biological chemistry
・Discussions based on presentations of research on biological chemistry
・Commentary based on presentations of research on biological chemistry
5. Discussion (Takakura, Kaneko, Ono, Takahashi, & Shirakawa)
Evaluation Methods and Policy Students will be comprehensively evaluated based on seminar attendance and their input in presentations and discussions.
