Outline and Purpose of the Course (Aim) This course aims to teach students basic experiment methods and approaches in analytical chemistry for pharmaceutical sciences, as well as experiment planning skills and teaching methods.
(Summary) In this course, students will plan practical training and experiments related to analytical chemistry, make preparations for and conduct preliminary experiments prior to beginning practical training, and guide undergraduate students during practical training.
Course Goals To study basic experiment methods and approaches in analytical chemistry for pharmaceutical sciences and learn experiment planning skills and teaching methods.
Schedule and Contents (1)-(4) Practical training design and planning
・Design practical training relating to analytical chemistry
・Plan experiments relating to analytical chemistry
(5)-(8) Preparation and preliminary experiments
・Preparations to explain practical training in analytical chemistry to undergraduate students
・Preliminary experiments to assess the validity of experiment plans relating to analytical chemistry
(9)-(28) Instruction in practical training
・Measurements of acid disassociation constants using ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry
・ The creation of phase diagrams of fatty acid mixture systems through differential scanning calorimetry
・ Quantitative analysis of multiple-metal ions using chelatometric titration
・ Quantitative analysis and separation and analysis through HPLC
・ Analysis of neutralization of polyacid base through potentiometric titration and conductometric titration
(29)-(30) Presentation and discussion of practical training results
・Presentations and discussion of practical training results related to analytical chemistry for pharmaceutical sciences
Evaluation Methods and Policy Students will be comprehensively evaluated based on practical training attendance (25%), practical training design and planning (25%), preparation and preliminary experiments (25%), and the appropriateness of their instruction in practical training (25%).

Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Students should carry out preliminary experiments to test in advance whether their planning is appropriate. They should also verify whether the content was appropriate based on post-class impressions.
