Outline and Purpose of the Course (Aim) Through laboratory experiments, this course aims to teach students how to approach research and draft research plans, as well as experimental techniques, data sorting methods, and problem-solving skills.
(Summary) Research on biomembrane asymmetry and membrane trafficking, as well as related ciliary protein transportation and the regulatory mechanisms of ciliary functions.
Course Goals To learn how to approach research and draft research plans, and learn experiment techniques, data sorting methods, and problem-solving skills.
Schedule and Contents 1-15:The following experiments will be conducted:
・Research on the formation of transport vesicles and asymmetry in biomembranes
・Research on asymmetry and cell motility in biomembranes
・Research on P4-ATPase functions that cause asymmetry in biomembranes
・Research on the functions of Rab activity modulators and effectors and small Arf GTPases in the formation of transport vesicles
・Research on the construction style and functions of giant protein complexes in ciliary protein transport
・Research on the construction style and role of motor proteins in ciliary protein transportation
・Research on the molecular basis of ciliopathy
Evaluation Methods and Policy Students will be comprehensively evaluated on their attitude and approach to day-to-day research.
Course Requirements None
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Independent study is the foundation for developing problem discovery and problem-solving abilities. Students should adopt a proactive approach to experiments.
