Outline and Purpose of the Course In this class, the latest papers in the genome/omics fields are selected for
the materials and their methods of statistical analysis and data mining are
discussed. The participants learn how to search and organize information so
that they understand the methods. The participants generate simulational data sets to validate their understanding of the methods. The class focuses on the theoretical and general aspects of the methods.
Course Goals To get skilled to self-learn statistical methods in genome/omics studies in medicine and life science.
Schedule and Contents Two or three classes will be used for one paper. The class hours are used to prompt the activities of participants to understand the methods, to understand the related topics of the methods and to learn to simulate data sets.

The papers are given by the tutors or are selected by the students.

The participants are to read the papers and gather information to understand the methods in them before the class hours and discuss their understanding with others in the class hours.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Activities in the class hours, homeworks and exam at the end of the course are count.
Course Requirements The participants should have knowledge on molecular biology.
The participants should have knowledge on genome/omics experiments.

Bring a laptop PC with wifi.

Skills in R language is not required but the beginners have to get skilled on their own along the classes.

Register both the first and second semester classes, if possible.

Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Needs preparation for presentation in the class hours.
Needs to report to the homework tasks.
References, etc. Will be provided in the class.
