Outline and Purpose of the Course Students will be instructed on selecting the subject for their thesis, assembling and analyzing data, deriving conclusions, and presenting them, and will have the opportunity to offer and receive critique from other students. Second-year students who intend to present their master's thesis must attend the lectures and report a progression status in the midterm presentation.
Course Goals Students will develop methods for investigating data to prepare their thesis, give oral presentations during the midterm and receive advice from other students and instructors. This will help them to reflect on as well as correct their methods of argumentation.
Schedule and Contents In the first class, each student will be asked to present a brief outline of the master's thesis that they intend to write. Following that, individual guidance will be provided, and at the end of the summer semester a few days will be allotted to conduct intensive midterm presentations.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Evaluation will be based on midterm presentations.
Course Requirements For students who expect to complete a master's course in this academic year.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) In the first class, each student will present an overview of the master's thesis that they intend to write. Hence, all students should be sufficiently prepared to participate. In addition, during the midterm presentation, students must do their best to investigate and examine the arguments, prepare the manuscript and practice the presentation to make it easy-to-understand within the limited time allotted for the presentation.
