Outline and Purpose of the Course | Torquato Tasso, one of the most famous Italian poets of the 16th century, discusses various topics such as love, beauty, virtue, friendship, art, Tuscan poetry, and impresa in the form of dialogues. In the second semester, we will closely read Tasso's dialogue "Il Malpiglio overo de la corte" and examine the values and morals of the court of the time and the characteristics of Tasso's prose. | |||
Course Goals |
(1) To acquire the ability to read and understand Italian prose of the Renaissance period accurately. (2) To deepen the understanding of Italian culture in the 16th century. |
