Outline and Purpose of the Course The purpose of this course is to enhance the student's ability to read, with precision, a text of English literature (an English novel, this term). The student is encouraged to form the habit of consulting dictionaries diligently, and also to study the social background of the text.
Course Goals The student will aim to gain an informed idea regarding sophisticated understanding of the literary text.

Evaluation Methods and Policy Evaluation will be based 100% on the student's participation in the class.
Course Requirements The student is recommended to have taken the first half of this seminar.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Meticulous preparation is absolutely required.
The student must on their own read the pages that are not covered in the class; if some questions arise while doing so, you can ask them either in the class or in the office hour.
