Outline and Purpose of the Course | James Boswell's biography of Samuel Johnson (1791) is a true classic of English literature. We are going to read this text slowly and carefully. | |||

Schedule and Contents |
An abridged version of James Boswell's text (by John Garrett) will be used for our reading purpose. Students are to use the Penguin edition for their preparatory study. Class 1 pp. 1-3. Class 2 pp. 4-6. Class 3 pp. 7-12 Class 4 pp. 13-17. Class 5 pp. 18-27. Class 6 pp. 28-37. Class 7 pp. 38-47.
