Outline and Purpose of the Course James Boswell's biography of Samuel Johnson (1791) is a true classic of English literature. We are going to read this text slowly and carefully.
Course Goals The student will aim to gain an informed idea regarding sophisticated understanding of the literary text.
Schedule and Contents An abridged version of James Boswell's text (by John Garrett) will be used for our reading purpose. Students are to use the Penguin edition for their preparatory study.
