Outline and Purpose of the Course We will consider the varieties of contemporary art though diverse works of art from the same periods. Specifically, while studying various aspects of art from the 1960s onward, known as contemporary art, we will consider how art changed in the former Eastern European region while it was involved in the societal circumstances, also touching on the development of postwar Japanese art.
Course Goals We will not only come to understand the development of contemporary art but also learn the fundamental aspects of art in the former Eastern European region, fostering positive attitudes toward contemporary artistic expression in the same era through comparison with Japan.
