Outline and Purpose of the Course In this class, students acquire knowledge on recent research trends in the history and philosophy of science. They also cultivate basic skills necessary for the preparation of a master's thesis. The participants further improve their presentation skills both in Japanese and in English so that they can give presentations at academic meetings and conferences in their fields. They also acquire basic skills for writing papers for academic proceedings and journals.
Course Goals To acquire basic skills for writing papers.
Schedule and Contents Each graduate student who attends the class gives presentations on the current status of his/her research, receiving individualized advice regarding the setting of the research theme, understanding of the relevant literature, and so on based on the presentation.
To prepare for presentations at academic meetings and conferences, attendants give demo presentations so that they can receive suggestions on their presentation techniques.
The order of the presentation, concrete contents of the presentation and so on will be decided by the arrangement among attending students and instructors.
