Outline and Purpose of the Course | In this course, we will focus on cognitive semantics and examine various phenomena related to the expansion of meaning in language, such as metaphor, metonymy, and subjectivity. | |||

Schedule and Contents |
In class, we will cover several major cognitive linguistics (especially cognitive semantics) topics below according to students' interests and prior studies, and closely read works on these topics. The plan is to cover each topic over the course of about two weeks. 1. Introduction 2. Theoretical overview of cognitive linguistics 3. Evaluation Methods and Policy | Students will be assessed comprehensively on end-of-term reports (70%) and efforts in class (30%). | |||
