Outline and Purpose of the Course In Human Survivability Studies II, using the research base mastered in Human Survivability Studies I, as well as Special Research Seminars I and II, students will increase their research abilities in their chosen field. Recognizing today's fundamental problems in global society, and aiming for solutions, students will tackle a summary of their own research in integrated survivability studies. Students will work on publishing their research results and complete a sophisticated doctoral thesis suitable for a doctorate (PhD) degree by meeting with their advisors closely, receiving sufficient guidance and advice.
Course Goals Completion of doctoral thesis, and establishment of career ability.
Schedule and Contents By actively presenting and demonstrating leadership at seminars hosted by research institutes and faculty members, presenting at domestic and overseas academic societies, and obtaining feedback, students will obtain a global expertise and use that expertise, along with cooperation with their advisors to publish their work. In preparation for their doctoral dissertation, students will prepare a preliminary thesis. Furthermore, along with close contact with the academic supervisors, students will complete their dissertation. In principle, students must satisfy the requirements for attendance at Transdisciplinary Research Groups meetings (six meetings per half-year, including three presentations).
Evaluation Methods and Policy Evaluation for the submitted doctoral theses will be made by establishing Doctoral Theses Evaluation Committee, in terms of its quality as theses for Doctoral Degree of Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability. During this evaluation procedure, oral presentations in academic societies together with published peer-reviewed research papers are also considered.
