Outline and Purpose of the Course In Human Survivability Studies I, students implement their knowledge of their individual specialty. This is done through the “Shu” (practicing) portion of the “Mon-Shi-Shu” (hearing, thinking, and practicing) disciplines. In other words, students will use the fundamental skills they learned in Special Research Seminar I and II, to increase their research skills in their chosen field.
Course Goals Through the diverse field knowledge they learned in Special Research Seminar I and II, the goal is for students to apply practical research to problem solving on the base of their chosen specialty, as well as to show a mastery of implementation skills. Students will also actively engage in oral presentations and the publication of their research results inside and outside campus.
Schedule and Contents Along with continuing their research about human survivability topics, students will discuss their 3rd-5th year Overseas Internship and Project-Based-Learning (Field work) with their advisors, and negotiate future field work. To be prepared for the field work,students are to increase their English skills to 90 or higher on the TOEFL-iBT. In principle, students must satisfy the requirements for attendance at Transdisciplinary Research Groups meetings (six meetings per half-year, including three presentations).
Evaluation Methods and Policy Evaluation will be made according to the research publications and oral presentations in academic societies.
Attendance to the meeting of Transdisciplinary Research Groups and seminars organized by your supervisors will also be considered.
