Outline and Purpose of the Course In contrast to Mon (hearing) in undergraduate studies, students engage themselves to Shi (thinking) of Mon-Shi-Shu (hearing, thinking, practicing) in Special Research Seminar I. This is an introductory stage of research in a discipline of their choice. Students are to acquire broad knowledge of their filed by reading and discussion, under the guidance and advice of multiple faculty members. This will foster basic research ability, including critical thinking and expressing ability. Students should also attend meetings of Transdisciplinary Research Groups and seminars held by their advisors in order to familiarize themselves with multiple research fields and practices of transdisciplinary approaches.

To specify your research question.
To submit a research progress paper (10 pages or 6,000 words).
Schedule and Contents In order to determine each one's research question, fully discuss with your advisors. Start to solve the question as your research project. Attend meetings of Transdisciplinary Research Groups (TRG) and seminars held by your advisors. Report your research progress to your advisors and discuss with them regularly. Wirte your research progress paper toward the end of the school year. In addition, students must satisfy the requirements for attendance at TRG meetings (six meetings per half-year, including three presentations).
Evaluation Methods and Policy Evaluation will be made by presentation (poster) and research progress paper. Attendance to meetings of Transdisciplinary Research Groups and seminars held by your advisors will be also considered.
