Outline and Purpose of the Course This course is designed to provide an overview of infectious disease risk, basic epidemiological concepts necessary for risk estimation, epidemiological theory, research design, and other theoretical foundations based on practical examples.
Students do not need basic knowledge of epidemiology/health science (related medical knowledge) but are expected to participate in an active discussion.
Course Goals Students are expected to understand the basics of infectious disease epidemiology and be able to perform infectious disease risk estimation.
Schedule and Contents 1. Outline of analysis of infectious disease risk
2. Basics of research studies and types of epidemiologic studies
3. Summarizing data and displaying public health data
4. Association and causal relationship
5. Bias analysis
6. Fundamentals of epidemiologic data analysis
7. Fundamentals of infectious disease epidemiologic data analysis
8. Outbreak investigation
9-10.Time series analysis on infectious disease
11-12. Statistical modeling on infectious disease
13-15.Mathematical modeling on infectious disease

Lectures will be given face-to-face as well as online several times
Evaluation Methods and Policy Grading will be based on attendance, discussion, and reports.
