Outline and Purpose of the Course This class is designed to 1) learn the essential linkage between resilience and human, social and ecological systems from multi-faceted perspectives and systemically and cultivate philosophical views for overarching perspectives beyond existing academic lines for future human society, 2) master systems thinking, design thinking and resilience thinking, to link those ways of thinking to addressing sustainable society, and 3) build up collaborative design capacity for problem-solving oriented approaches for sustainable society-related challenges we are facing.
Course Goals The course aims at developing multi-faceted views and thinking capacities to grasp resilience related to human、social and ecological systems as a continuum, and building up capacities to design schemes for problem-solving oriented approaches for local and global challenges for sustainable society and draw roadmaps toward implementation of practices.

10-11 Systems Thinking, Design Thinking & Resilience Thinking and Practices (June 21th, 4-5th)
12-13 Sustainable Development Goals and Resilience (July 5th, 4-5th)
14-15 Problem-Solving Oriented Approaches and Collaborative Group Design for Creating Resilience (July 19th, 4-5th)
Evaluation Methods and Policy Attendance to lectures (40%), presentation and discussion (30 %) and group work (30%).
Course Requirements Ability for discussion, presentation and group work in English
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Required to read assigned reading materials in advance.
