Outline and Purpose of the Course The goal of this course is to introduce students to the different aspects, methodological and applied, that form the field of Intelligence Science and Technology. Students following this course will be given opportunities that may include: visit other laboratories than that to which he/she is originally attached to, and possibly attend a course, a seminar or a practical training session; carry out an internship within a relevant industrial partner or research institute. This course is intended for students of the IST department, but may accept, if conditions allow for it, students coming from outside the department.
Course Goals The aim is to help students acquire knowledge and research skills in their own areas of specialization, while at the same time develop deeper insights into the many fields that constitute Informatics.
Schedule and Contents (1) Group seminar classes (1st semester): Participate in seminar classes (around 25 hours in total) operated by any research groups in the department. Grades will be awarded by the faculty member of the research labs concerned.
・ Students may not participate in seminar classes offered by their own research groups or previous research groups belonged to as undergraduate students.
(2) Off-campus internship (1st semester): Participate in an internship program in a company or any other research organization.
・ The term of engagement must be at least 10 working days and 60 hours in total for a company, and a report on the outcomes must be submitted afterwards. Grades will be awarded based on the submitted report and the original copy of a certification of the internship issued and signed by the host organization.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Credits will be awarded to students who fulfill one of two options "Group seminar classes" or "Off-campus internship".

Study outside of Class (preparation and review) ・ Students should consult carefully with and obtain the consent of their supervisors when selecting elective programs.
・ Programs chosen for Seminar on Intelligence Science and Technology I, II, III and IV must be unique.
・ Seminar on Intelligence Science and Technology II and IV is provided only for M2 students.
