Outline and Purpose of the Course Whatever information is valuable, it would be useless if we fail to effectively communicate the information to a receiver. To communicate the information effectively, it is important to design the information so that the receiver is able to easily understand it by structuring it. Information Design aims to provide a methodology to design and structure information so that people can easy-to-understand it.
In the lectures, we will discuss what Information Design is, and provide a variety of methodologies for designing information in diverse media. More precisely, we will give lectures on information structuring, language design, design of user interfaces and interactions, information visualization, collective intelligence, social simulation, negotiation/discussion design, information comprehension and credibility.
Course Goals Students understand and can utilize the knowledge of the concepts on Information Design and its methodologies.
